By Asya Amiri

Bande-e-Qargha (Qargha Dam) is one of the greatest sightseeing places in Kabul city. This dam has been handed over to private sectors, which has refurbished and paid extra attention in its decoration and setting places for families. But, no attention has been paid on its swimming section that takes lives of young swimmers every year.

Ahmad shekeb a young afghan says,” Qargha Dam is an interesting place, but some youths who can not swim, give their lives and add to their families’ sorrow. Meanwhile, the authorities can not offer any kind of help as they have not been provided with.”

Mohammad Hanif a police man added “we do not have any kinds of facility to rescue the people except a boat and a hook to pull out the dead bodies. We ask our government and other NGOs and Aid Agencies to train our staff and provide us necessary tools for rescue so that we will be able to save lives of those who can not swim well.
